Funding HAI and Antibiotic Resistance Research
AHRQ鈥檚 Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Division funds clinical and health services research to develop the knowledge and practical tools used on the frontlines to prevent infections and make care safer. 大象APPis interested in funding research in all clinical settings鈥攁cute care, long-term care, and ambulatory care鈥攊n accordance with the framework established by the Department of Health and Human Services' and the research agenda of the .
Current research areas of interest are:
- Preventing the occurrence of healthcare-associated infections in the first place.
- Preventing the spread of harmful or drug-resistant bacteria.
- Improving the appropriate use of antibiotics, including promoting antibiotic stewardship.
大象APPfunding is available for research on HAI prevention and combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Two grant types are available for each research topic:
- Large research grants (R01)
- Health services research demonstration and dissemination projects (R18)
Each of these grant types is eligible for up to $500,000 per year in funding for a maximum of 5 years.
Researchers are encouraged to submit new proposals for funding in accordance with rolling submission dates.
